We’re excited to invite you to a captivating 10-episode webinar series (divided into two parts of five episodes each) exploring the fascinating world of ancient colours!

The webinar, “PERCEIVE Theory and Data Acquisition and Use for Colour Change Simulation and Collection Management,” offers a unique opportunity to explore cutting-edge research in cultural heritage conservation, with a special focus on the study, preservation, and communication of ancient colours. Featuring leading experts in the field, this series provides deep insights into methodologies and practical applications emerging from the PERCEIVE project.

The first episode will take place on April 16th, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM (CET).

Throughout this series, you’ll hear from renowned experts sharing their knowledge on ancient sculpture, textile art, and the role of digital technologies in reviving historical colours. Each episode will delve into topics such as historical techniques, 3D modelling, and advanced diagnostics, unveiling the hidden stories behind these colours.

Speakers:
Letizia Monico

Senior researcher at the Institute of Chemical Sciences and Technologies “Giulio Natta” (SCITEC) of the National Research Council (CNR) and visiting scientist in the AXIS research group at the University of Antwerp. With a joint PhD in Chemistry, Letizia specializes in the study of alteration processes and the characterization of artists’ materials, particularly inorganic pigments in artworks.
She is the author of over 45 peer-reviewed publications and has received numerous awards for her research, significantly contributing to the understanding of art material conservation.

Irina Crina Anca Sandu
Conservation Scientist at the Munch Museum, holding a PhD in Chemistry. Irina has led research projects on the scientific study of the Edvard Munch Collection, developing expertise in artist materials analysis and colour change phenomena. She serves as Project Lead for PERCEIVE, coordinating research efforts on colour changes in paintings and works on paper.
