The CoDesign Tool facilitates the design of engaging digital experiences, particularly in the cultural heritage field. Developed within the PERCEIVE Horizon Project by the Italian National Research Council (CNR ISPC) and Fraunhofer IGD, the tool enhances collaborative ideation and design thinking through a structured yet flexible methodology.
Building upon the VisitorBox card game from the GIFT Project (EU Horizon 2020), the CoDesign Tool maintains a card-based structure, integrating boards, rules, and iterative design stages to guide teams through the process. On top of this framework, we customized the tool for the PERCEIVE project by introducing an additional phase dedicated to Cognitive Goals, accompanied by a new deck of cards specifically focused on Authenticity and Sense of Care. These themes are central to the objectives of the PERCEIVE project, ensuring that the design process incorporates considerations of user perception, emotional engagement, and meaningful storytelling. The workflow includes context definition, goal setting, ideation, storyboarding, and disruption, encouraging creative problem-solving and critical thinking.
The tool is available in both a physical format (card-based) and a digital version, which is currently under development. The digital counterpart extends its functionality by incorporating AI-assisted co-piloting, API integrations, and multi-user collaboration, making it a scalable and adaptable authoring tool. Designed for cultural institutions, educators, and creative professionals, the CoDesign Tool bridges participatory design methodologies with digital innovation, ensuring that all key aspects of digital experience creation are addressed.
